About Sigrid Bannier

Sigrid Bannier is a German-based felt artist whose deep passion for wool and natural fibers has shaped her creative life. She first encountered felt around the year 2000—and from that moment on, she knew she had found her medium.

Drawing on earlier experiences in exhibition design and spatial planning, Sigrid brings both conceptual rigor and tactile sensitivity to her felt work.
For over two decades, she has explored every facet of felt making—celebrating its seamlessness, the richness of its surface possibilities, and its capacity for three‐dimensional form.

Her studio, Bannier Filz, produces handmade felt pieces for everyday life—objects that merge utility, texture, and visual poetry. She often experiments by combining felt with unexpected materials and textures—pushing boundaries while staying true to the material’s inherent language.

Sigrid also brings her knowledge to students through workshops and courses, nurturing a new generation of makers who see felt not just as craft, but as expressive art.
